The cover features model Susanne Schönborn, photographed by the legendary Irving Penn, and she's wearing Courreges. There are many pages of fashion in the 250-pg magazine, but what's striking about this issue is there is little here to remind you it's Christmas. A few Christmas ads, a few articles (by Jean Kerr, for example), but the Yuletide gifts are the outstanding photos, in color, by MidCentury, legends, Irving Penn and Avedon. In addition to the cover, Penn photographed fashions of The Kurdis of Cameroon, and also, stunning closeups of poppies in full blooming splendor. Avedon captured Gloria Vanderbilt Wyatt Cooper in Fortuny dresses (notice the BoHo jewelry). Vladimir Nabokov and Samuel Beckett wrote articles, Katharine Hepburn starred as Chanel on Broadway, and a photo essay compares Woodstock to Fine Art. The magazine's in very good, 1960s vintage condition. Some slight cover wear to the corners, but inside, clean, bright, unmarked & no subscription label.As with all things vintage paper, handle carefully!
