A young artist at work under the deep shade of a snowball tree. The canvas is broadly divided into two. Above, the sunlit blossom in white with the brightest of yellows and orange colours from lime to rich tangerine in the leafy folds. Below, the cool greys and blues of the grassy shade punctuated by the odd flaring touch of lemon as the sun pierces through. Above, the thickly applied whisks and whirls of impasto paint. Below, the dragged and dripping run of thinner paint with solvent. See less
