The Darley Arabian and The Byerley Turq were two of the three seminal stallions that formed the modern racing bloodline stock. These particular engravings appear to be 20th century restrikes and are marked "Mess & Fares Piccadilly". The original works were equestrian portraits by John Wootton and date to the early 18th century. The engravings are beautifully framed and matted in French mats with gold leafed edging and marbleized banding. These equestrian prints would be the perfect addition to a personal library or study.
