This captivating Japanese hanging scroll (kakejiku) features a dynamic samurai warrior galloping on horseback, hand-painted on Fabric with bold and expressive brushwork. A powerful representation of Japan’s martial spirit, the artwork likely dates from the late Meiji to early Showa period (circa 1900–1940) and reflects the refined aesthetic of traditional Japanese scroll art. The scroll includes a red artist seal, elegant calligraphic inscriptions, and a circular floral crest (mon)**, possibly indicating noble lineage or a family emblem. These markings add significant cultural depth and authenticity. It is preserved in its original Tomobako (wooden storage box, table not included) which features a hand-brushed hakogaki inscription and the artist’s red seal—hallmarks of an authentic collector’s piece. “Upon close inspection, the background reveals delicate kirazuri — a traditional mica technique that lends a quiet shimmer to the scene, echoing the glint of samurai armor or moonlit silence.”
