Weary, who … Read more This is a rare and beautifully preserved Weary brand pillow-top wardrobe steamer trunk, likely dating from the 1920s. Weary, who originally worked for hartman Trunks, and held many of the patents on Hartmann wardrobe trunks, started his own then later merged with Hartmann. They were known for crafting high-quality travel trunks. This particular trunk not only reflects that era’s craftsmanship but also carries a piece of history. The original travel stickers suggest it once belonged to a prominent figure in the civil rights movement in St. Louis, Missouri, during the 1930s, adding a unique layer of historical intrigue.

The trunk’s exterior and interior are both in very good shape, with just a few minor scratches consistent with its age. It could use a light cleaning, but overall it’s in excellent physical condition. The brass hardware has been left unpolished, allowing the new owner to decide whether to keep its original patina or polish it to a bright shine.
