Waterlily is a dense, energetic composition built from a network of overlapping circular forms, bold black outlines, and layers of acrylic color that seem to flicker across the page. The painting is constructed like a field of floating impressions: clusters of white ovals, vibrant reds, yellows, and blues, and intricate scribbled structures create a surface that feels alive with motion. The central area pulses with warm tones — orange, yellow, and red — while cooler blues and purples settle into the edges, producing a natural rhythm that recalls the layered reflections found on water.
The black looping lines, drawn with oil markers, act like a structural scaffolding, weaving through the composition and binding the color fields together. Some shapes appear almost figurative — a small yellow profile, a burst of white brushstrokes echoing spray or light — while others remain purely abstract, allowing the viewer to drift between interpretation and sensation. The interplay between opacity and transparency, between controlled circles and chaotic scribbles, creates a sense of depth and movement, as if the entire piece is gently shifting.
I love it because the artwork captures the sensation of complexity held together by harmony. Every circle feels like its own small universe, yet all of them participate in a larger choreography. The thick red gesture in the lower left adds a dramatic gravity, while the clusters of white forms offer brightness and air. It is a painting that invites the eye to wander, rest, and return — always finding a new detail.
Created with oil markers and acrylics on paper, the combination of crisp line work and layered color gives the piece vibrancy, texture, and a dynamic sense of visual rhythm.
