Large bronze sculpture titled “Duo” by celebrated Mexican sculptor Victor Salmones (1937–1989). This striking example of Salmones’ work was acquired directly from the Victor Salmones Gallery in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, in 1983 and is designated as the Artist’s Proof (P/A) — an especially desirable distinction for collectors.
Rendered in solid bronze with a deep, hand-rubbed patina, “Duo” depicts two abstracted figures in a tender yet dynamic embrace. The sculptural composition reveals Salmones’ signature balance between geometric precision and emotional intimacy — a hallmark of his mature style. The flowing planes and interlocking volumes reflect both modernist influence and deeply human expression.
The sculpture is mounted on its original marble pedestal, whose earthy tones beautifully complement the bronze. Together, the ensemble forms a monumental statement piece that embodies timeless elegance and sculptural mastery.

About the Artist
Victor Salmones was one of the foremost figures of 20th-century Mexican sculpture. Trained at Mexico City’s prestigious Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes under the tutelage of sculptor Jorge de la Peña Beltrán, Salmones developed a unique sculptural language that fused modern abstraction with deeply human themes of love, unity, and transformation.
Throughout his career, Salmones earned both national and international acclaim. His monumental bronzes have been exhibited and installed in Mexico, the United States, Europe, and the Middle East, including prominent public commissions in Houston, Mexico City, and Acapulco. His work is held in important private and institutional collections worldwide.
Salmones’ legacy lies in his ability to combine the sensuality and strength of classical form with the expressive freedom of modernism. Collectors of Mexican modern and postwar art value his work for its technical mastery, spiritual depth, and symbolic representation of the human condition.
