These are either French or Italian and were from an earlier period around 1910-1920. I bought them to serve as candle pillar holders. They probably were used to hold a small pot or vase with plants. I had them on a fireplace mantel - house has 3 fireplaces and boy did these look great during the holidays.

Essentially these work well in so many settings and are a great architectural pieces that will go just about anywhere. You just dont find great things like this anymore.
I am selling the set without the candles and silver shades that belong on lamps.
