English red lacquer and gilt-decorated Chinoiserie secretary bookcase. The upper cabinet features arched mirrored doors opening to shelved storage, over a slant-front desk fitted with small drawers and pigeonholes. The lower case contains four graduated drawers with oval brass pulls. The gilt decoration throughout depicts birds, foliage, and pagoda motifs framed within delicate patterned borders. See less
