Exceptional mid-20th century French console table or petite desk made in the style and manner of Maison Jansen or Maison … Read more Exceptional mid-20th century French console table or petite desk made in the style and manner of Maison Jansen or Maison Leleu. The table is constructed from polished steel having a decorative polished brass Greek Key motif frieze. The top of the case has a bronze inset with a rich patinated finish. The case is supported by 15 slender steel rod column legs having brass collar caps ending with brass cylindrical feet. The column style legs are conjoined on three sides by a square box stretcher having an open front for use as a small writing table. The table has ample leg room measuring over 25 inches from the floor to the apron. The piece is unmarked and constructed in the mid-century by a French Atelier in the neoclassical directoire taste. The metals have a desirable aged patina on the rich finishes. Sturdy and strong with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. From a grand estate in San Francisco, California.
