Unique wall unit with matching credenza designed by Elio Monesi (1927–1994), created for his private home in Milan. The system is composed of two rosewood wall panels and three wenge rails, which support adjustable shelves and cabinet elements. Each shelf and cabinet measures 140 cm wide and 35 cm deep, with the cabinets standing 45 cm high. The octagonal design motif is repeated throughout all elements. One cabinet appears to have been designed as a bar compartment, featuring a wipeable interior surface instead of veneer. Some of the shelves show an early neon light system operated by a door contact switch—a rare detail of the period. The wiring is currently inactive but can be restored or left as is, since the tubes remain hidden from view. The accompanying credenza rests on a wenge base and measures 140 cm wide, 60 cm deep, and 73 cm high. The craftsmanship showcases precise joinery particularly visible in the hinges and interior structure, which combine functionality with refined detailing. This ensemble exemplifies Monesi’s architectural approach to furniture design, merging warm exotic woods, technical precision, and modular flexibility—a rare and historically significant piece from the designer’s own home. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
