In fantastic condition, cedar inside and no damage. Latch and Lock have been replaced for safety.This vintage Art Deco style cedar chest has gorgeous walnut veneer with solid wood handles and trim edges. We have refurbished this chest completely, taking off the old and tired finish and allowing the natural coloration of the wood to shine again from blondes to oranges and browns and deep, rich reds. All new hand-rubbed oil finishes allow the wood grain colors and textures to be prominent in this piece.We cleaned up many small flaws of time, but of course with age comes wear--this piece was obviously treasured through its life but you will note small knocks and chips, etc. here and there--this includes an original maufacturing defect/veneer rub-through (3-inch long on the waterfall edge above the right handle that was stained to camouflage and has been retreated with new finishes--see last pic). Also notable is what looks like hide-glue from manufacturing that has darkened the crotch veneer from behind on the left and right facing creating a shadowy "plaid"-like appearance.

Inside there is a divided tray integrated into the hinge system and a clean open space for storing your treasured items. Latch has been removed/disengaged for safety--push-button keyhole hardware remains.
