It is modeled after the French Empire style settee with it's hand-carved mahogany frame and damask upholstery. The stunning dragon carvings on either end accent the piece and room. Griffins, dragons are common motifs in this period symbolizing power, authority, and protection. In the context of furniture, they can also represent the owner's wealth and status. The frame is sturdy and solid. It is incredibly comfortable. It has two lumbar, side pillows with matching pattern. Nice fireside davenport sofa. Painting and sconces not included.
