This vintage 6x12 Persian kilim is a Shahsavan tribal rug or outstanding provenance. Handwoven in wool, it’s believed to originate circa 1950-1960.
Further on the Design:
The design prefers wide polychromatic stripes in the field, wrapped in rich red, beige and black borders. Navy blue, salmon red, light pink, and chocolate brown radiate in the many hues this colorful, warm piece enjoys.
This rug is, furthermore, one of a rare series R&K Principal Josh Nazmiyal has curated with large size and rich colors. It’s a rare choice for this provenance, and an exemplar in Persian tribal rugs as well.
Further on the Condition:
This mid-century Persian Shahsavan flat weave further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.
