Circa 1825. Early American Pewter Coffee Pot, William Calder (1817-1856) Providence, Rhode Island. American Pewter made prior to 1850 is rare and desired by collectors. Large size, Lighthouse Form, knop finial and scrolled handle.
Apprenticed about 1805 to Samuel Hamlin in Providence RI.
He worked from 1817 to 1850 as a pewtersmith in Providence
Listed in the 1824 city directory with shop at 166 North Main Street and at 182 North Main Street in the 1835 edition.
