A rare early George Jones majolica garden seat or side table, circa1861–1873, modeled as entwined tree trunks with climbing vines, rope-twist detail, and the distinctive mottled brown and green undersurface seen on documented Jones examples.
This sculptural form is modeled as three intertwined tree trunks, wrapped with leafy vines and berry clusters and cinched with a finely molded rope-twist band—a classic expression of Jones’s naturalistic majolica and its early faux-bois tradition.
The circular top is glazed in a deep, glossy brown to resemble a cut tree section, while the underside displays the distinctive mottled brown and green undersurface associated with early George Jones production.
Highly decorative yet fully functional, this piece is perfect as a drinks table, a sculptural accent in a garden room, conservatory, or any interior where naturalistic design shines. It also works beautifully as a garden seat or plant stand, bringing charm and presence wherever it’s placed.
Under the base is the raised mark featuring a moulded two-lobed cartouche containing the George Jones monogram above the words “Stoke on Trent,” a documented mark used circa 1861–1873, along with its corresponding pattern number.
