Wonderful Trompe L' Oiel oil painting depicting envelopes, letters and stamps. The artist is Jack Hartert(1922-1975) . Hartert was a master forger painting in New York and later England. This painting signed by Hartert in a clever manner as the "recipient" on the envelope. And dated ... as the cancelled stamp reads "Bristol 1970" . The painting is on board and is in its original oak frame with beaded trim. The backside of the frame reads Made in England by Magnolia Ltd.
The exterior dimensions of the frame are 19" x 23". The painting without frame measures 11.5 x 16 inches.
