A charming authentic late 19th / early 20th century English Victorian era crowned chimney pot, today repurposed as an indoor plant stand - table base - planter - garden ornament!
This salvaged architectural building element was originally mounted on a roof and served as both a decorative and functional addition to traditional vented coal heaters and chimney flues, so smoke, soot, and embers exited a further distance away from the house.
Typically made in the style of the home's architecture, influenced by old world medieval Tudor design, this salt glazed terracotta ornamental object features a heavy-duty one-piece sculptural form, having a round slit vent pointed crown top with one broken point, tapered octagonal body, on integral square base, with remnants of later chic distressed white washed paint finish with worn weathered patina.
A wonderful way to add sophisticated antique character, rustic elegance, romantic warmth, and rich historical interest to any space!
Dimensions:
28.75" Tall, 13" Wide, 13" Deep
Condition Report:
Good antique salvage condition. Attractive appearance, retaining remnants of later paint, overall wear commensurate with age, use, handling and exposure, including past damage of loss to point and tips of top, scattered nicks, chips, rubbing, fading, abrasions, accretions and losses throughout. Exposed brick red and clay layers of old finish. Strong, sturdy, stable, structurally sound.
Please note, pointed crown has losses to one point and minor tip losses, nothing that detracts from the display or functionality but only adds to the overall authenticity, antique character and charm!
