RARE Wheat Sheaf Compote Jam Jelly Jar w/lid Cambridge/Imperial Glass 1908
Amazing antique condition. This is a beautiful piece of early American pattern glass (EAPG) from 1908, produced by Imperial Glass in the United States. This rare piece of art features a wheat sheaf pattern in clear glass with a glossy finish, typical of Victorian style glassware.
This two-piece style of dish is often referred to as a compote, jam jar or jelly jar (Comport dish). It includes the jar with one compartment and a lid, making it a unique and collectible item for antique glass enthusiasts. It does have a stem pedestal with a lid and tear-drop shaped finial. The pressed glass production technique and the intricate design make this an original and authentic piece from the early 1900s.
The Cambridge Glass Company marked some of its pieces with "Near Cut" as a registered trademark between approximately 1904 and 1921. This dish has that mark very clearly.
The Cambridge Glass Company was founded in 1873 in Cambridge, Ohio, USA. The company specialized in producing fine glassware, and it quickly gained a reputation for high-quality products. During the early years, the company produced a wide range of glass items.
Meas 5" T (not including lid/finial); 5" bowl width; 9" T with lid/finial; 2" depth.
Please view all photos as they are part of the description. There is some minimal age-related wear, but that is to be expected on a piece of this vintage nature. The very tip of the finial does have a tiny flea bite, which does not distract from the beauty.
