The chest features detailed carvings, including a central depiction of a sailing ship on water, surrounded by a woven or lattice pattern. The edges and corners are adorned with floral motifs, indicating a high level of craftsmanship, possibly from a traditional woodworking style. The wood is a dark, polished hardwood, which could be oak, walnut or mahogany, commonly used in antique furniture. While in excellent condition, the chest shows signs of wear, such as slight discoloration and scratches. This is consistent with age, use and carving depth. Brass lock is intact. See less
