Rendered in pen and ink on paper, the artist captures himself seated beside an empty easel - an evocative reflection on the act of creation and perhaps the weight of artistic identity. Alonso's masterful draftsmanship is evident in the contrast between the meticulously rendered face and hands and the more loosely suggested form and background. Signed in the lower right, this piece is framed under glass in a clean, minimalist frame that allows the emotional complexity of the work to take center stage. A compelling acquisition for collectors of Latin American art and modern portraiture. See less
