An amazing and rare late 1800s standing bookbinder’s press with beautiful character and true Texas provenance. This sculptural piece features a cast-iron screw mechanism and rich, time-worn wood with visible joinery and patina.
The frame was crafted using stamped crate boards from H.C. Hilf Cigar Mfg., 735 S. Alamo St., San Antonio, Texas, connecting it to the city’s historic cigar-making district.
Beautiful as a working press or as a pedestal for books and collected objects. A soulful object with presence, craftsmanship, and history.
