This 17th century bureau is divided into two separate sections, typical of bureaus of this period. The upper bookcase section features a deeply moulded double dome, ached paneled doors and candle slides, with the interior bookshelves substituted in the 19th century for smaller storage compartments. The lower writing section has a fall front with book rest that opens to reveals a fitted interior on a four-drawer base and bun feet.

A rare, fine and sophisticated piece of 17th century furniture with wonderful patina and color and in excellent overall condition.

This compact and well-proportioned bureau makes a powerful statement without eating up tons of real estate. It was sourced from Charles Saunders Antiques and a lovely estate in Scarsdale, New York.
