Sake Set Ceramic Pottery Sake Carafe and 6 Cups Vintage Flask + Cups.
This Vintage, Japanese sake set comes with 1 hand crafted sake carafe/flask (Tokkuri) which measures 4-1/2" tall X 2-3/4" at widest point. The 6 sake cups with small handles (Ochoko) each measure 2" tall x 1-3/4" at widest point which includes the handle. The sake carafe is a rich brown color with a gradating beige to brown trim on the rim and spout area, then glazed overall. The sake cups have an artsy brown/tan/beige swirl pattern. Grooves on both sides of the carafe are suitable for your hand/fingers offering an easy grip to avoid slipping. In excellent condition without frits, chips, cracks, stains, missing paint, or repairs done to it. Serve your favorite sake or after dinner liquor in this set. Add to your home decor, use for entertaining or give it as a hostess gift. Perfect for pottery collections, sake set collections, Vintage Japanese collectibles or just because you like the set. The set was a gift from Japan purchased in the 1950s but the set itself could even be older than that. It was never used, carafe still has price sticker residue at the bottom. Perfect for gift-giving. Stored in a cool dry place. Comes from a smoke-free/pet-free home.

About Sake Sets:
A sake set is a generic term for the flask and cups used to serve sake. Sake sets are commonly ceramic/pottery, but may be wood, lacquered wood, glass or plastic. The flask and cups may be sold individually or as a set. The server of a sake set is a flask called a tokkuri. A tokkuri is generally bulbous with a narrow neck, but may have a variety of other shapes. Traditionally, heated sake is often warmed and thus the narrowed neck would prevent the heat from escaping. Nowadays, sake is typically served in ceramic/pottery cups. The cups used for drinking sake are generally small cylindrical vessels called ochoko or choko.
