Born in Cairo, Egypt, and raised in Beirut, Lebanon, she earned her Bachelor of Arts from the Leonardo Da Vinci Italian School of Art in 1959 before immigrating to the United States. Settling in Los Angeles in the mid-1960s, Asfour continued her studies at the Chouinard Art Institute (now CalArts) and worked as a portrait artist for Universal City Studios from 1965 to 1967. Her early American paintings — including “The Two Darlings” (1967) — reflect her warmth, realism, and emotional depth. Over her five-decade career, Asfour’s work was exhibited internationally and represented by the Wentworth Gallery network. Today, her paintings are held in private collections worldwide and are admired for their luminous tones and compassionate humanity. less
