A late 19th- to early 20th-century quarter-sawn oak fireplace mantel with Neoclassical Revival motifs and classical detailing. Hand-carved dentil molding, fluted panels, and acanthus leaf-and-berry border.
Rectilinear profile with a broad frieze and deeply molded shelf supported by block corbels and a dentil course beneath. High-quality joinery and hand-carved carved acanthus leaf-and-berry running border and fluted corner panels with bead-and-reel detail.
Origin: Likely English or American, in the Edwardian taste
Material: Quarter-sawn oak
Finish: Original medium-brown patina
Details: Dentil molding, carved leaf-and-berry border, fluted pilasters, block corbels
Condition: Excellent antique condition; wear consistent with age and use. Minor missing components at the foot of the columns would need to be re-milled (please see pictures).
Dimensions: Outer: 63" wide, 50" tall, 11" deep. Inner opening: 28.75" wide by 29.5" high
