A museum quality set of twelve CH 31 dining chairs in teak by Hans Wegner, made in Denmark by Carl Hansen & Son c. 1950s.
The CH 31 is defined by seamless integration of wood and weave. The stylized front stretcher bar opens slightly in the center, allowing strands of rattan to enter and disappear beneath the seat. The double-paned weave of the seatbacks makes the chair exceptionally beautiful from all angles – laborious to restore, to be sure, but necessary to preserve integration between the wooden and woven components.
The rattan seats are comfortable, breathable, and durable, and will gradually age to a golden amber color with use and oxidation. Built from solid old growth teak, the CH 31 is an heirloom quality chair designed to last generations.
The frames have been expertly refinished and the caning rewoven to original specification.
To our knowledge it is the largest set of its kind for sale anywhere in the world.
