Beautifully proportioned French-style tub (fauteuil tonneau) armchair, dating to the early 20th century (c. 1915–1940). This inviting barrel-back form is crowned by a hand-carved walnut crest rail featuring richly modeled floral garlands—each bloom and leaf subtly varied, giving the carving wonderful depth and character.
The chair’s wraparound back and scrolled show-wood arms create a classic “tub” silhouette, while the generous lounge scale makes it ideal for a reading nook or fireside seating. Upholstered in a luminous yellow damask with a diamond lattice/trellis pattern and finished with decorative gimp trim for a tailored look.
