Hand knotted in a luxurious wool and sheen silk originating circa 1950-1960, this vintage Persian rug connotes a mid-century Isfahan rug style, celebrated among the traditional Persian rug styles for intricacy and grandeur like that of this married medallion and all over pattern in beige, blue, and red floral style. Further boasting good condition in a versatile 4x6 gift size.
On the Symbolism: The medallion-style field design is rippling with a series of diverse floral motifs including lotus palmettes, garlands, irises, lancet leaves, and peonies respectively believed to embodying themes of rebirth, religious liberty, regeneration, and power depicted in crimson red, green, and lavender colourways. Framed by tunique lavender spandrels, the inner and outermost borders are a mirrored peony and iris scroll, while the middle border employs palmettes with blossoms in an Islimi curvilinear style keeping with the vertical and horizontal symmetry preserved throughout the entire piece; completed by a rich, red guard border.
