A late 19th century academic study likely executed in a Parisian atelier, depicting the severed head of John the Baptist resting upon a low stool. Rendered in charcoal on toned paper, the drawing reflects traditional academic training with its careful modeling of form and tonal balance. The artist’s signature, BROC, appears in the lower right corner. The number ‘13’ is present in blue at the bottom of the drawing.
