The surface features lacquer on wood in the distinctive Negoro-nuri style — a traditional technique in which layers of red and brown lacquer are applied and gently worn away to reveal a rich, organic texture with depth and movement.

Inside sits a removable copper liner, originally used to hold hot coals. The copper has beautifully aged, showing natural patina and green-blue oxidation that enhance its authentic character.
