A rare and refined uchiwa (round paddle fan) from Japan, created for the prestigious Takashimaya department store in the 1960s.
Dimensions: height 50 cm, width 35 cm, depth 1 cm.
The fan depicts a graceful bird perched on tall blades of grass at sunrise — a delicate, poetic composition that evokes the stillness of a summer morning.
Signed by Shūkei (主啓) in red ink at the lower left, and marked on the reverse with the Takashimaya seal. Wooden handle and finely ribbed paper surface that gently reflects light.
Includes the original green wall-hanging cord with tassels (uchiwa-kake), allowing it to be displayed as wall art. In excellent condition.
An elegant example of Japanese design — timeless, refined, and serene — perfect as a standalone art piece or part of a uchiwa collection.
