depicting a natural landscape, a seascape and olive trees with sinuous shapes and twisted trunks.

In the background, behind the trees, the sea and the outline of hills or mountains fading into the distance can be glimpsed.

The painting conveys a sense of depth; the earth and tree trunks are warm in tone, and the light is soft.

The work is signed lower left by Filippini, an Italian painter known for his landscapes and seascapes.

Emilio Filippini (1870-1938) was born in Cattolica. He enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, but interrupted his studies

in 1890 to perform military service in Lucca. His stylistic influences included Guglielmo Ciardi,

the pictorial serenity of Pietro Fragiacomo, and the veristic approach of Giacomo Favretto.

He participated in exhibitions in various cities in northern Italy, including Ravenna, Rimini, Bologna, and Padua.

In 1999, the monograph "Emilio Filippini, solitary painter 1870-1938" was published,

and more recently, the exhibition "Emilio Filippini, poet of light."

The oil painting is housed in a beautiful gilded frame from the same period as the original.

The frame and the antique canvas have been carefully and professionally restored.
