An important late 19th Century Shirvan rug from the northeast Caucasus region. The rare and highly prized yellow field is deeply saturated and decorated with various heavily stylized flowers and geometric forms. The navy blue 'crab' design border features a remarkable array of colors including sky blue, brick red and a tremendous deep gold.
