This piece of furniture dates … Read more Extraordinary antique wedding cabinet, personally one of my favorites that we currently have on offer. This piece of furniture dates from 1809 and comes from Franconia, southern Germany. The cabinet is painted with a colored striped pattern over the entire surface and has floral decorations in the panels. The wedding date, 1809, is inscribed above the doors. Naturally, there are some minor signs of wear, but the cabinet is still in good condition for its age. A piece of the back has been replaced at some point, and there are a few old woodworm holes, which have of course been checked and treated. The wardrobe still has its original layout consisting of two shelves with clothes hooks. If desired, more shelves or a rod can easily be added. The doors can be securely locked with an old lock and key. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a wedding gift to the couple. This furniture was then placed in a display room on the farm, which was rarely used except for important visitors or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. This cabinet can be dismantled into two parts for transport. 173 cm high, 150 cm wide, 55 cm deep. See less
