The design translates a symbolic thistle/holly motif into metal in a sculptural form: embossed overlapping leaves and undulating calyxes emerge along a vertical stem topped with domed rivets and a halo of concentric rings.

Executed from cut, bent, and hammered (not cast) brass sheets, the surfaces retain vivid hammering and a warm honey patina that enliven the light.

The workmanship and formal language recall the Parisian art metal workshop, where artisanal dinanderie supplied luxurious interiors.
