Tyrolean wardrobe in fir wood, dating back to around 1805, of remarkable size and with strong visual impact. The structure is imposing, with a rectangular body resting on six solid “onion-shaped” turned feet, typical of Alpine production. The upper cornice is projecting, molded, and decorated with polychrome motifs, framing the entire piece and giving it movement and verticality.
The two front doors feature large central panels painted with vertical floral compositions: tall tulips, red and blue petal flowers, scrolling foliage, and vegetal volutes, all enclosed within polygonal geometric frames painted in reddish brown. The sides are also enriched with polychrome panels, with floral motifs and “faux marble” decoration, a detail that demonstrates the care for ornamentation on every side of the piece. The lower section is characterized by two rectangular panels painted in faux marble as well.
The interior, in natural fir wood, reveals a simple construction, with large nailed boards and sturdy wrought iron hinges. Locks and fittings are original, crafted in the same period. The painting, authentic and datable to its time of execution, displays an intense color palette: turquoise green background, red, ochre, and dark blue for the decorations, with a lived patina that enhances the long history of this wardrobe.
An object that combines function with decorative prestige: solid in its construction, richly painted on all sides, and originally intended to furnish representative interiors or bridal chambers in the Alpine valleys. A piece that fully preserves the historical and artisanal authenticity of its time.
