Superb practical piece of mid century furniture by the Czech maker … Read more 1950’s Rectangular Extending Halabala Dining Table – Up Zavody. Superb practical piece of mid century furniture by the Czech maker Up Zavody and the designer Jindrich Halabala. Sourced direct in the Czech republic, Halabala was a Czech industrial designer, writer, and educator. Halabala was a key force in the development of post war industrially produced European furniture. Czech was a large producer of high quality mid century furniture following the surge of modernism originated by the Bauhaus school. Made principally from birch the legs are solid and strong, the top has rich birch character. The table extends from 120cm to 190cm with a simple mechanism using the central leaf that is stored neatly away underneath the table top. Please note the colour of the extension is original and slightly darker because it was stored and protected from sunlight. Our workshop has cleaned and serviced the table it is strong and steady and good to go. Length of extended table: 190cm. Knee Clearance: 66cm.
