A charming pair of mid-century French Country counter-height barstools, beautifully hand-carved and full of authentic rustic character. Crafted from solid oak with floral relief carving along the crest rail and graceful ladder backs, these stools reflect the artisan workmanship of provincial France.
Each seat retains its original hand-woven natural rush in a traditional four-way pattern, showing expected age wear and fraying consistent with use. The oak frames are strong and sturdy, with rich chestnut patina and subtle variations that highlight the hand-finished details.
These stools were likely made in France between the 1940s and 1950s, when provincial workshops continued centuries-old techniques for both local and export markets. Their honest wear and warm tone make them a perfect addition to a French farmhouse kitchen or European-style interior.
Condition: Wear to the rush seats with visible fraying; one seat shows partial breakage. Minor crack along one crest rail that does not affect stability. Frames are sturdy and structurally sound. Can be used as is with charming French-country chair pads (a checked or ruffled linen cover is delightful), or professionally re-rushed if desired.
