These antique appetizer or seafood forks are crafted of inlaid "super plate" in the 1923 Century pattern by Holmes & Edwards Silver Co.- founded in 1882 in Connecticut. I especially love mixing these with modern tableware when serving appetizers, and great on a charcuterie board.
"Super Plate" is a brand name for a silver plated product, most famously used by Holmes & Edwards for their flatware. It is a type of silverplate where solid silver is inlaid at specific points, such as the backs of spoons and forks, to increase durability and longevity. This differs from standard silverplate which is a thin coating of silver applied over a base metal.
