Vintage rosewood executive desk with brass hardware by Ole Wanscher, made in Denmark by A.J. Iversen. Wanscher, who studied under Kaare Klint, brought a perceptible dose of pre-war aesthetic to his 1940s and 1950s designs.
This particular example blends simplicity and functionality with a sense of stateliness largely eschewed by Scandinavian designers later in the 20th century. Gorgeous rosewood grain patterns flow across the top and cascade down the sides. The fully finished back allows the desk to be placed in the center of a room.
Sourced from a celebrity home in Studio City’s Fryman Canyon and refinished to perfection for the next half century of use.
Note: the knobs add 0.75” of depth, which is not accounted for in the measurements below.
This piece is unmarked. To our knowledge, that was commonplace for this design.

Close-up photos available on request. The brass knobs for the reading panels and the original key had been lost to history.
