We are a skilled custom … Read more Large (48 x 72) solid oak antique partner's desk with (4) drawers and lower stretcher. We are a skilled custom furniture studio which also restores and repairs fine antiques. This desk needed to be rescued from the second floor of a lovely local home which had been remodeled so that the desk would no longer fit down the stairs. We skillfully cut the base off at the level just below the leg block and doweled it so that it could be re-attached. It is stable enough with one long screw per leg (provided by us) and no glue, and can be shipped in two sections if desired. Glue would make the joints permanent and should be considered with caution, as the piece is quite large and shouldn't be "trapped" behind a narrow door or stairway. Each drawer has a lock, and each side of this desk is keyed separately.
