Rare pair of opulent English Gothic revival style garden armchairs made in the manner of Coalbrookdale Foundry. The frames are heavy and solid featuring gothic tracery and quatrefoil designs on the backrest. The gracefully curved arms enclosing demilune motif patterns. The seats have a honeycomb pierced design with pierced tracery apron or frieze. The chairs have a beautifully aged and distressed patina newly refinished in a dramatic black finish. Iconic English design and profile sold as a pair. The chairs are impressive with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. The open fretwork patterns are reminiscent of medieval cathedral designs.
