Duke of York lead and bronze travel trunk with original crest and fittings.
Brass engraved plate added later. This antique trunk belonged to Edward, Duke of York and Albany (1739-1767)
Prince Edward Augustus was the younger brother of King George III and the second son of Frederick, Prince of Wales. He was created the Duke of York and Albany (a combined title) and Earl of Ulster in 1760. He died unmarried and without heirs in 1767, at the age of 28, in Monaco, after falling ill on a journey to Genoa.
