The wardrobe has strong … Read more This is an impressive antique George III flame mahogany breakfront secretaire wardrobe, circa 1780 in date. The wardrobe has strong architectural lines and features an elegant moulded cornice with a plain ebony crossbanded frieze. The central section with a pair of panelled doors opening to an interior fitted with a brass hanging rail above above a delightful secretaire drawer that is fitted with a gold tooled green leather writing surface and an arrangement of pigeon holes and small burr maple drawers. This is flanked by a cupboard on each side. The left hand cupboard with a shelf above a brass hanging rail, lifting a hinged shelf below it allows you to hang dresses down into the lower half. The right hand cupboard is fitted with shelves. The secretaire drawer is over three full width drawers with a double height drawer on the right and hanging space over a single drawer on the left. The wardrobe has superb ebony crossbanded decoration, the drawer linings are of solid oak with handcut dovetails and it is raised on an elegant shaped plinth. It comes complete with the original working locks and keys. It is a truly beautiful and spacious wardrobe which will enhance the decor in your bedroom.
