We inherited this from my parents. It was part of their "display" (or FAKE as I called it) dining room for 35 some years which they NEVER even dined on - not once. If you know any Eastern Europeans, this seemed to be common practice once they purchased nice homes. (And, there was an entire FAKE display kitchen also!) Structurally VERY strong and very heavy. Back in the late 80s I think my mom said she paid about $7000 for it with the chairs (which we do not have).
YES, there are scratches. In most lighting you can NOT see the scratches and they were hard to photograph. The scratches are from moving around ceramic bowls and vases which sat on the table and are NOT deep. If you run your fingernail across it you can NOT feel them at all. The finish on this is very prone to scratches.
The table, as pictured, is with ONE leaf installed and measures 7'10" by 45". There are TWO more 18" leaves as can be seen in the pics, ONE of which is damaged. The bars under the table are metal. There is one small chip as can be seen on one of the leaves.
Selling because it is not our style and we don't wish to further scratch it and some Asian family or Yakuza member is probably looking for it.
(I am also selling a side table and matching buffet on this site.)
I listed Country of Origin as US but I do NOT KNOW for certain where it was made.

One might buy a piece of glass and that might be the trick but the original finish is very scratchable. I don't know why/how they sold tables with finishes like this. The broken leaf would be a very simple repair - just screws and some glue. less
