Unique late 19th century / early 20th century mahogany chest of drawers made by Atlas Furniture in Jamestown, NY. Dovetailed drawers and turned legs. Great conditioned with minor surface wear.
Atlas Furniture company was founded in 1882/3 by Swedish immigrants in Jamestown, NY. At the time, Jamestown was considered one of the most prominent furniture making hubs in the United States. It was a center of lumber milling in early America and grew into a renowned furniture making town after 1860, as the expansion of railroads allowed access to great markets.
