Evocative wall-mounted Raku ceramic sculpture by Puget Sound artist Julia Stzen.
The work portrays a cloaked, contemplative figure rendered in soft, iridescent tones of bronze, green, and gold. Stzen’s pieces often reflect themes of quiet strength and feminine resilience.
The surface displays the distinctive luster and smoke patterns of Raku firing, with a rich interplay of metallic and earthen hues. The back retains classic carbon markings from the reduction process. This piece hangs flush to the wall by an integrated wire.
