The book-matched mahogany veneer on this chest is absolutely stunning! It's hard to stop admiring it, especially when it catches that natural light.
Built in the 1840s-1860s, this chest calls back to the Chippendale style of almost 100 years earlier with its canted corners. During the Victorian era, elements from popular styles from the past were reintroduced but with a new twist. In this case, the canted corners are extended all the way through the feet and the intricately shaped skirt on the bottom of the piece fit into the early Victorian aesthetic.
