For sale is a striking and rare sculpture by Brian Andreas (a.k.a. Kai Andreas Skye) from his beloved StoryPeople collection, titled “Making Room II” (dated 2008, studio number SPS 4318). Measuring approximately 41″ tall (to the tip of the wire hair) and 8″ wide, this tall, slender figure is crafted in hand-painted wood and wire, featuring Andreas’s signature storytelling text: “When I first met him I knew in a moment I would have to spend the next few days re-arranging my mind so there’d be room for him to stay.”
Maker & History: Brian Andreas has built a distinctive body of work combining whimsical figurative sculpture with handwritten poetic text. His StoryPeople prints are widely collected, and his sculpture line is now out of production, making this piece a rare find.
Material & Condition: The figure is constructed of reclaimed wood with hand-painted colour blocks—mustard/yellow top section, maroon with polka dots mid-body, green lower section—and a slender wire hair element extending upward. The wood shows natural cracks and wear consistent with age and handmade construction; these lend character but are noted for accuracy.
Size: 41″ tall (including wire), approx. 8″ wide at the body, depth approximately 1″
